PepperFry cofounder Ambareesh Murty suffers Cardiac Arrest in Leh

Online furniture and home improvement major PepperFry co-founder Ambareesh Murty died of cardiac arrest in Leh. The sad news was shared by his close friend and business partner Ashish Shah on social media network X. Shah said that his friend, brother and mentor Ambareesh Murty died of major cardiac arrest. 51-year-old Murthy was quite healthy and wasn’t showing any signs of heart issues.

In the recent years, many people have suddenly departed due to a cardiac event. The trend has been witnessed among individuals leading a fast life and probably enduring a lot of stress.

Murty founded PepperFry in 2011 and was currently serving as company CEO. He was also planning to launch IPO for the online furniture retailer.

On social media X, Shah informed, “Extremely devastated to inform that my friend, mentor, brother, soulmate @AmbareeshMurty is no more. Lost him yesterday night to a cardiac arrest at Leh. Please pray for him and for strength to his family and near ones.”

Murty enjoyed adventurous trips and used to go on motorcycle trips from Mumbai to Leh. He finished his Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta in 1996. Later, he joined Cadbury in sales and marketing. He also worked with Prudential ICICI AMC. He also worked with eBay and Levi’s. He has been associated with Britannia Industries as well.

Pepperfry was currently valued at $500 million. The company has raised funds from venture capital firms over 8 funding rounds amounting to total of $250 million.
