Dada aka the Cricket legend Sourav Ganguly is all set to receive a one-kilogram gold bat at a Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) felicitation programme on Sunday. The cost of the bat is expected to be around Rs 25 lakh. The gold bat has Ganguly's cricketing records embossed on it.

Speaking on this, Jagmohan Dalmiya, CAB President said, “It will be a totally cricket-centric function. So, there will be no cultural programmes.”

A15 minutes film which will portray Ganguly's life from a child till his retirement as a cricketer would also be shown in the programme.

London, Jan 7 : Former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, who is popularly known as the Prince of Kolkata, will pick a new cheerleader for his Indian Premier League team, the Kolkata Knight Riders.

Ganguly is all set to make his small screen debut in Shahrukh Khan's show, Knights and Angels. But unlike other cricketers he will not be seen participating, but rather judging the reality show Knights and Angels.

The latest news is that the Bengal icon has appeared in the DYFI’s (CPM’s youth wing) calendar for 2009. The calendar was unveiled at Ganguly’s residence in Behala on Friday.

Gavaskar is the Chairman of the committee, which generally makes recommendations to the BCCI on the playing conditions and the structure of the domestic game. At a recent meeting in August, the committee had allowed state associations to pick four 'guest players' [those from areas outside their jurisdiction] in their squad, including one from overseas, from the 2008-09 season onwards. Earlier, only three such players were allowed.
