Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar voted in Greatest ODI XI of all time

London, Feb 10 : Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has been voted in the greatest ODI XI of all time, along with Adam Gilchrist, Chris Gayle and Wasim Akram.

The BBC revealed the greatest ODI XI of all time after voters cast their votes over the last week and Tendulkar has been voted as one of the best opening batsman in the greatest one-day team ever.

People voted over the last week for the different components of the team from a list of players nominated by the Test Match Special team, the BBC reported.

The only criterion set was that the players must have appeared in an ODI, with World Cup performances carrying no extra weight.

ICC names cricket legend Tendulkar as ambassador for 2015 WC

sachin tendulkarDubai, Dec 22 : The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar as the ambassador for its pinnacle tournament for the second consecutive time, scheduled to be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand from 14 February to 29 March.

The ICC today announced Sachin Tendulkar as the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 Ambassador. It will be the second successive time that the India maestro will be the Ambassador of ICC's pinnacle tournament, after he fulfilled the role in the previous event, which was co-hosted by Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka in 2011.

Tendulkar, Sehwag features in Hayden's World Cup XI

Tendulkar, SehwagJohannesburg, December 20 : Legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar and swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag have been named in the former Australian batsman Matthew Hayden's list of all-time greatest ever World Cup XI.

Earlier, International Cricket Council ( ICC ) launched an online campaign 'Your Greatest XI', which allows fans a unique chance to pick their greatest cricketers from the previous ten editions of the event.

Hayden's list comprises of four Australian cricketers namely Adam Gilchrist, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Ricky Ponting, who is also the captain of the side, Sport24 reported.

Tendulkar congratulates Rohit Sharma for setting new ODI record

Sachin TendulkarNew Delhi, Nov 22 : Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has congratulated fellow cricketer Rohit Sharma for scoring a record breaking 264 runs in a One- Day International (ODI) match against Sri Lanka on November 13.

The previous record was held by fellow cricketer Virender Sehwag, who had scored 219 runs in an ODI against West Indies in 2011.

"(It is a) Spectacular achievement! Especially after a hand injury, it's not so easy. I know.. I have had a few injuries. Rohit has done remarkably well and I just feel that this Australian tour brings him more success and for Indian cricket," said Tendulkar.

Sachin's autobiography 'Playing it my Way' released

Many former cricketers graced the ceremony, including Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Ravi Shastri, Vasu Paranjape, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and Saurav Ganguly.

"You will not get a more cricketing evening than this, and it is appropriate that someone who stands for cricket in India should have brought such an audience like this," said commentator and journalist Harsha Bhogle.

Boria Majumdar, who co-authored the book, said the book was a 'three-and a half years long pregnancy'.

Tendulkar voted in Mumbai's North Central Lok Sabha constituency and tweeted later to his fans: "I have voted, have you? A wonderful start to my birthday, as a responsible citizen of our great nation."

In a post on his official Facebook page, Tendulkar - now a nominated Rajya Sabha member - urged his countrymen not to "underestimate" the power of their vote.

"Every run counts in the game of cricket and every vote counts in an election. Don't underestimate the power of your vote."

Tendulkar said he was now in Mumbai to exercise his democratic right Thursday.

Tendulkar, who retired from international cricket on November 16 last year, will be the first sportsman to receive the country's highest civilian honour.

Prof. Rao is an eminent scientist and a well-recognized international authority on solid state and materials chemistry. He has published over 1,400 research papers and 45 books.

West Bengal School Syllabus Revamp Committee chairman Aveek Majumdar said there was an informal discussion between him and Education Minister Bratya Basu on incorporating the luminaries in the syllabus.

Court reserves order on Sachin's Bharat Ratna

sachin-tendulkarLucknow, Nov 25 : The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court Monday reserved its order on a PIL challenging the award of Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, to cricketer Sachin Tendulkar.

The petition filed by IPS official Amitabh Thakur and social activist Nutan Thakur contended that the award had no provisions or guidelines to select people.

The petitioner's counsel Asok Pande argued that cricket was less of a sport and more a 'tamasha' or fun.

Pande said there were no guidelines to select Bharat Ratna winners as against the guidelines governing Padma awards.
