Morena (M. P.)/Lucknow, Nov 25 : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday in Madhya Pradesh’s Morena District, and said its tenure in the state has been of inactivity.

Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad has said that Rahul Gandhi is doing the same thing as (Mahatma) Gandhi by going to the people directly and getting the feel of the problems of the people.

"Rahul Gandhi is doing what (Mahatma) Gandhiji did on his return to India (from South Africa). He is going to the rural areas to gauge the pulse of the people. His family has sacrificed a lot for the country. He has my best wishes. If the party reaps the benefits of his effort, that will be good," he said in a summit at New Delhi.

Aizwal (Mizoram), Nov 22 : Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi has promised to develop Mizoram in a bid to woo the youth of the State

Addressing a public meeting here on Friday Gandhi said: "We should try and develop Mizoram the way it should. It will be a government that will look after the poor in Mizoram and most importantly it will work with youth to ensure a bright future for Mizoram."

He also described remote states as being equally important for the development of the country.

The move made by the Congress government in Maharashtra, in which they asked the manufacturing sector to reserve 80 per cent jobs for locals, was criticized by AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi, just after one day of its announcement.

On Tuesday, Rahul said, “For me every citizen … should get equal opportunities throughout the length and breadth of country.”

When he was asked to give his take on Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray’s anti-outsider campaign, he replied, “He is advocating regionalism, to which I’m strongly opposed.”

Though Rahul admitted that "there was a tragedy in Punjab" - after the assassination of his grandmother and former Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi, who ordered Operation Bluestar - he rubbished all talk of Sikh aversion towards the Congress.
