Mukherjee to discuss trade, security and water issues during Dhaka visitDhaka, Feb 9 : Indian High Commissioner to Pakistan, Pinak Ranjan Chakravarty stated on Monday that all options, including trade, security and water issues would be open for discussion between India and Bangladesh during the visit of External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee to the neighbouring country today.

Connectivity between the two nations, particularly the proposal for the use of the largest seaport in Bangladesh, Chittagong by India, will also form a part of the discussions.

Indian external affairs minister arrives in Dhaka for talks Dhaka  - Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee arrived in Dhaka Monday for talks on trade, investment and security with top Bangladeshi officials.

"We will work for further improvement of bilateral relations and find new areas of cooperation," Pranab said on his arrival at the Zia International Airport.

Pranab was scheduled to hold meetings with Bangladesh's Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wazed and Foreign Minister Dipu Moni later in the day.

Mukherjee asks Pakistan to act against terrorism

New Delhi, Feb 8 : Addressing a Congress party summit here on Sunday, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee cautioned the Pakistan Government to punish the terrorists involved in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks.

Referring to the promises by the Pakistan Government to bring the perpetrators of the Mumbai attacks to justice, Mukherjee warned the neighboring country not to divert from its commitment on this grave issue.

He clarified that the fight against terrorism was not against any religion.

Addressing the media on the margins of a conference organised by the Research and Information System, Mukherjee said that he had conveyed this view to visiting UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon during a one-to-one meeting.

Mukherjee blamed Pakistan for the Mumbai terror attack, and said, it is using terrorism as a state element.
