New Delhi, Feb 13 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, on Friday, said that terrorism in Pakistan poses a direct threat to India and global peace.
Addressing Parliament after Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav had presented his sixth railway budget, Mukherjee said, "We made it clear to Pakistan that terror from its soil is a direct threat to India."
He also maintained that the government would not rest until the terrorists behind the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks are brought to justice.
The Indian economic system will grow by 7% during the existing fiscal even as latest projections by worldwide agencies like the International Monetary Fund (IMF) stated that the economies of developing countries would shrink by 2%.
This was stated by Union External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee at the 81st annual general meeting of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Speaking on this, Mr. Pranad said, “I am proud to say that in 2008-09 India will still grow by 7 per cent.”
New Delhi, Feb 12 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee today called for comprehensive strategy to effectively deal with the menace of terrorism.
Inaugurating a conference on security governance and global economic crisis here, Mukherjee said terrorism sponsored from across the border will be eliminated with all the means at India''s command and no effort will be spared in this regard.
"The government is aware that security is not only of paramount importance in the life of the nation but also deeply intertwined with the running of the business and that is why terrorist from Pakistan chose targets that included centres of Business and global corporate visitors in Mumbai," he added.
Dhaka, Feb. 9, : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Monday said that hurdles in the global war against terrorism are created by an unwillingness or a lack of sincerity on part of countries.
"There is no conflict between the regional architecture and within the regional architecture, the bilateral architecture. What is more important is the sincerity to fight against the menace of terrorism," Mukherjee said.
Dhaka, Feb. 9 : Visiting Indian External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Monday unveiled a model of a core shelter that is to be used for survivors in villages in Bangladesh that were struck by ''Cyclone Sidr''.
Speaking on the occasion, Mukherjee recalled visiting some of the cyclone-affected areas in 2007 and the devastating impact it had caused to lives, property and untold sufferings to the people of Bangladesh.
