Vice-President embarks on four-day visit to MyanmarNew Delhi, Feb 5 : Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari left for Myanmar on a four-day visit today to further strengthen ties between the two countries.

He is leading a high-level delegation comprising Members of Parliament and businessmen, and includes Minister of State for Defence MM Pallam Raju.

The high-level business delegation comprises officials of the Steel Authority of India, TATA Motors, Gas Authority of India Ltd., Bharat Heavy Electric Limited among others. 

TATA Motors is setting up a truck manufactring unit in Myanmar.

Ansari calls for practical solutions to problems of minorities

Mohamed Hamid AnsariNew Delhi, Jan 20 : Vice President Mohammed Hamid Ansari has called for practical solutions to solve the problems of the minorities.

Vice President Ansari was delivering the inaugural address at the "Annual Conference of State Minorities Commissions" in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The Vice President emphasized on the promotion of minority rights to strengthen the friendship and cooperation among peoples and States.

It is the first time that National Youth Festival would be held in Punjab till January 16.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will preside over the function. Dr. M. S. Gill, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports and Gulzar Singh Ranike, Sports Minister, Punjab , will be the ''Guests of Honour'' at the function.
