Lewis Hamilton, Barack ObamaRio de Janeiro - British driver Lewis Hamilton, the youngest-ever Formula 1 world champion, said in Brazil that he would have supported Democratic Party presidential candidate Barack Obama, if he could vote in Tuesday's elections in the United States.

"I wish both candidates the best, but I really like Obama, and if I were (a citizen of) the United States I would have done my best to help him," the McLaren driver said, in comments that the Brazilian daily Folha de Sao Paulo published Tuesday.

Obama is seeking to become the first-ever black president of the United States.

F1 world title hat trick can get Hamilton his dream car

Speaking the day after he was crowned world champion driver, Hamilton revealed a special deal he had struck with McLaren boss Ron Dennis.

Hamilton will be given the keys to a McLaren F1 LM road car, currently on display at the outfit''s Woking factory, if he wins the crown twice more.

“Every time I walk past it, I gaze at it. It’s probably the most expensive, the most beautiful car in the whole world – and that’s the one I want,” the Sun quoted Hamilton, as saying.

According to the Daily Express, he has stirred mixed reactions for his colour, his driving and his self-confidence.

Hamilton’s father, Anthony, spoke of the strains of fame.

However, Hamilton insisted the only thing he was dizzy on was his pride at becoming the sport’s youngest world champion.

“I only had a couple of glasses of champagne,” the Mirror quoted Hamilton, as telling a press conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
