Jack Dorsey to take over as interim CEO of Twitter as Dick Costolo resigns

Co-founder of twitter Jack Dorsey is following the footsteps of his Silicon Valley idol Steve Jobs, as he returns back to his job.

Dorsey, 38, on Thursday raised objections when asked during an interview whether he is interested in becoming Twitter's permanent CEO.

Dorsey in a reply said that the final decision is in hand of the search committee and they're going to look at internal and external candidates.

His return to the firm he helped create signals that Twitter is looking for a leader who can inspire confidence in the company's product vision, after a slew of leadership changes in the past five years, lowered its growth.

Dorsey's passion for Twitter, the social-media company which he helped start in 2006 with Evan Williams and Biz Stone, has been evident.

According to Mashable, Jack Dorsey, Twitter's cofounder and current CEO of Square, issued a lengthy tweetstorm on Thursday in which he praised the progress of the social network and offered a firm endorsement of Costolo's leadership.

Demonstrating its support for Costolo, Twitter later went on to promote Dorsey's tweets.

The Square Stand is built of moulded white plastic material and rotates either to the customer or to the staff. The device, which can be attached to a checkout counter or a cash register box, runs Square's point-of-sale application called Square Register. Dorsey said that the new device will be aimed at high-volume brick-and-mortar stores.

Announcing the 7th birthday for Twitter on Thursday, Twitter said that thousands of tweets - the 140-character messages - are sent from computers, smartphones and tables every minute; with the microblogging site packing news, sports scores, pictures, gossip, complaints of infuriated customers, and hashtags.
