Washington, Mar. 4 : Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan can ill afford to lose its confrontation with terrorism.

"This is an existential battle. If we lose, so too will the world. Failure is not an option," Zardari said.

According to an op-ed piece published in the Wall Street Journal, Zardari, while referring to the Swat peace deal, negated the notion that Islamabad has fallen into the hands of the Taliban.

Islamabad, Mar 3 : President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani have strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore on Tuesday.

Zardari asked the authorities concerned to immediately investigate the incident so that the perpetrators are identified and their motives exposed.

He directed that best possible medical treatment be provided to the injured, The N ews reported.

Gilani termed it a terrorist attack, and said the objective behind the attack was to bring a bad name to Pakistan.

Islamabad, Mar 2 : President Asif Ali Zardari is considering various options to seek a remedy to the Sharif brothers’ disqualification issue, even through an act of Parliament.

Zardai held consultations with inner circles of the PPP to find out ways to resolve the stand; The Nation quoted sources, as saying.

Sources privy to these developments said Zardari is inclined to engage coalition partners, particularly the ANP and JUI (F) to mediate between the PPP and the PML-N.

Lahore, Mar 2 : PML-N president and former Chief Minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province, Shahbaz Sharif, has said that Zardari tried to bury democracy alive in its infancy and would not escape from its dire consequences.

Speaking at the Hameed Nizami Day seminar on Sunday, he called for making the March 12 lawyers rally a success.

Shahbaz said that though “I am not a saint, but know that the soul of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto will be with us in the long march and sit-in to realise the dream vis-a-vis of restoration of the deposed judges and independence of judiciary in the country.”

Lahore, Feb. 28 : Taking his fight with President Asif Ali Zardari a step further, former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) chief, Nawaz Sharif has said that he is still ready to mend ways with the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), but unwilling to commit the "sin" of talking to Zardari.

"I am still ready to talk to Benazir's PPP. But I consider talking to Zardari the `biggest sin," The Nation quoted Sharif, as saying.

Islamabad, Feb. 28 : Pakistan's Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar has said that PPP parliamentarians from Punjab have unanimously decided to install a PPP Chief Minister in Punjab, and authorized party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari to nominate a candidate for the slot.

The decision came on Friday during a meeting of PPP Punjab MNAs, MPAs, and senators, co-chaired by President Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to discuss the Punjab situation, the Daily Time report.
