Sharif says Zardari not restoring judges because of NROLahore, Mar 10 : Pakistan Muslim League-N chief Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday said that President Asif Ali Zardari is not restoring the deposed judges because of National Reconciliation ordinance.

Talking to PML-N members in Raiwind, Sharif said in order to save the country he would even offer sacrifice of his life.

"We would have been standing by Zardari if he had been true to his words," The News uoted him, as saying.

Pakistani president arrives in Iran for regional summit Tehran - Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to attend the 10th Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) and discuss plans for a gas pipeline linking the two countries with India.

Zardari and his Iranian and Afghan counterparts Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Hamid Karzai are scheduled to have a trilateral meeting prior to the summit on Wednesday on security in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

According to a People's Media Cell handout released before his departure to Iran, Zardari negated the notion that Pakistan is a failed state.

He said every step is being taken to ensure the stability of democracy and democratic organizations in the country.

Zardari will meet Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and other senior leaders, Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Abdul Basit said.

"Both sides will have in-depth exchange of views on the entire spectrum of bilateral relations with a focus on greater cooperation in communication and energy sectors," Basit said.

The Daily Times quoted Zardari, as saying that Iran-Pakistan-India (IPI) gas pipeline project was in the best interest of Pakistan and Iran.

He said the government had already proposed to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad that it would continue with the project even if India pulled out.

Holding talks with the Awami National Party (ANP) leader Asfandyar Wali Khan and Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUI) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, Zardari commended both the leaders for their reconciliation efforts.
