Soni opens Aman Umeed tourist complex at Wagha

Ambika Soni to begin South Africa visit from August 14(Attari-Wagah Road) (Amritsar), Oct. 7 : Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni inaugurated a tourist resort – the Aman Umeed Bhawan – here on Tuesday.

It was earlier known as Neem Chameli.

The new tourist resort has been set with the expectation that it will draw more tourists through the Wagah – Attari land route in the future.

Amritsar, Oct 7 : Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni has inaugurated a tourist resort, Aman Umeed Bhawan, earlier popularly known as Neem Chameli at Attari-Wagha international border in Amritsar.

Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal was also present on the occasion.

After inaugurating the complex, Soni said the flow of tourists from across the border will help in further promoting peace between the two countries.

"Tourism has vast potential for employment generation and Institute of Hotel Management set up in the area will provide opportunities for youth to work in the sector," she added.

The Union Ministry of Tourism, Indian Railways and Government of Punjab have agreed to launch and promote as a part of the Incredible India campaign, a luxury tourist train to cover popular destinations in Northern India.

Transport industry is an integral part of tourism: Ambika Soni

Ambika SoniNew Delhi, Sept 26 : Union Minister of Tourism and Culture Ambika Soni said that the onus of making India a successful tourist destination lies not only with the Ministry of Tourism but also on the entire tourism industry, which includes transport industry.

Soni was speaking at the Convention of the Indian Tourist Transporters Association (ITTA) at Ashoka Hotel, New Delhi today.

“When we in the Ministry of Tourism talk about inclusive growth through tourism we are also thinking about those people who are involved in the transport sector as they are vital for sustaining India’s tourism industry,” said Soni.

Ambika Soni to begin South Africa visit from August 14New Delhi, Aug 12 : Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni will be on an official visit to South Africa from August 14 to 19 to represent Government of India at the Centenary Commemoration event of the burning of the registration certificate in Johannesburg by M. K. Gandhi and the fellow Indians.

During her visit, Soni will meet South Africa’s Culture Minister Z. Pallo Jordan and sign a Cultural Exchange Programme (CEP) between the two countries on the August 15.
