Pak lawyers to stage sit-ins protest across the country
Islamabad, Aug 25 : Aitzaz Ahsan, President of Pakistan Supreme Court Bar Association, today said that the lawyers and civil society will be holding countrywide sit ins on August 28 to protest the continuing delay in restoring the judiciary.
Speaking to the press in Islamabad, Ahsan said the lawyers and the nation had been waiting patiently for the restoration of the deposed judges, but the government has failed to take steps to make their written promises a reality.
He added that the lawyers movement will stage more sit-ins if the judiciary is not restored, while reiterating that the protests will be peaceful and orderly.
He also announced that as SCBA President he would be moving a resolution against the Pakistan Bar Council, which has shown differences with the other bar associations on the matter of protests.
The PBC is in favour of allowing the government time to restore the judges, The News reported. (ANI)
