On the evening of February 24, 2016, a session hosted by campus mental health organization Active Mind on eating disorders, was attended by approximately 20 people at the Michigan Union. The session was among the six events held by the organization in association with Project Heal, which is a non-profitable organization set up to offer treatment scholarships to those suffering from eating disorders during the National Eating Disorder Awareness Week.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) revealed on February 24, 2016 that so far this year, the nation has witnessed the maximum effectiveness of vaccination for flu compared with last few years effectiveness rate. The CDC stated that till now, the vaccination has reduced the chances of getting influenza by 59%.

"This means that getting a flu vaccine this season reduced the risk of having to go to the doctor because of flu by nearly 60 percent. It's good news and underscores the importance and the benefit of both annual and ongoing vaccination efforts this season," said Dr. Joseph Bresee from the CDC.

Luke Blanock, an 18-year-old adolescent from Pennsylvania, entered into wedlock with his high schooldays love, 19-year-old Natalie Britvich. Two years ago, Luke was diagnosed with a rare bone cancer, called Ewing's Sarcoma.

Luke has already taken 24 chemotherapy sessions and more than 100 radiation treatments, along with two operations. However, doctors told two years ago that Luke’s cancer has become terminal now.

A new study reveals that an increase has been noticed in the number of outsiders than natives of Colorado visiting emergency rooms related to marijuana intake. Purchasing marijuana is legal in Colorado. The results of study will be published Thursday in the New England Journal of Medicine.

The doctors looked at marijuana-related emergency-room admissions at a hospital near Denver International Airport during 2014. They found that number of tourist visits to emergency rooms doubled from 85 in 2013 to 168 in 2014; both were out of 1000 visits. On the other hand, the number for native resident remained almost constant over the period, changing slightly from 106 per 1000 in 2013 to 112 per 1000 in 2014.

On Wednesday, New York City judge Eileen Rakower refused the request by National Restaurant Association (NRA) to reverse new ordinance that requires larger chain restaurants to place a warning label next to menu items that contain more than 2,300 milligrams of salt.

Consumption of food containing high amount of salt causes blood pressure to increase, that in return may lead to heart diseases and stroke. Obeying order will become necessary from March 1 onwards, after which, violators will be penalized by a fine of $200.

A team of researchers at the University of Glasgow has classified four types of pancreatic cancer. They acknowledged this fact after studying several pancreatic cancer tumor cases. Their findings will assist in developing better diagnoses and treatment in future, the study team claimed. The results of the research were published in the journal Nature.

Every year, an estimated 8,800 people are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the UK. Only 20% of the patients manage to survive more than a year, while a small proportion, say less than 5% could make it to more than five years. Only 1% of them remain alive after 10 years of diagnose.
