PM Modi to interact with farmers via webcast

New Delhi [India], Sept. 26 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi will interact with farmers of five states through a webcast on Monday.

He will hold live telecast discussions with farmers from Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

The first interaction will be with two farmers from Hyderabad. He will be presented with a new and highly productive turmeric variety named Pitamber and plants of the same will be gifted to two farmers at Hyderabad.

At Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, a variety of Vetiver will be released and Prime Minister Modi will be presented plants of this aromatic crop in Delhi.

He will also release the rose scented variety derived from the Geranium flower.

Lahore [Pakistan], Sept. 26 : Pakistan Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry has hit out against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent statement in Kerala warning of action against the Uri terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir, saying that it violates all United Nations and international charters against non-interference in internal affairs of other countries.

In an exclusive interview to Dawn, Jalil Abbas Jilani, Pakistan's Ambassador to Washington, stated that the Prime Minister's statement shows India's "nervousness" with the situation in Kashmir.

Sushma Swaraj to address UN General Assembly today

New York (U.S.), Sept. 26 : External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will address the UN General Assembly in New York today, where she is expected to give a stinging response to Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's UNGA speech.

Outlining India's focus for the UN General Assembly session, New Delhi's envoy to the UN Syed Akbaruddin said terrorism is the primary concern for India as well as for nations across the world.

He listed reform of the UN Security Council, sustainable development, climate change and peacekeeping as other priorities for India in the current UNGA session.
