Sitharaman to discuss next steps in ETCA during Lanka visit

New Delhi [India], Sept.26 : Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman will be visiting Sri Lanka from today in a bid to expand bilateral trade relations between the two countries.

She will be accompanied by senior ministry officials and a business delegation.

During her three-day visit, Sitharaman will be meeting with Sri Lanka's Development Strategies and International Trade Minister Malick Samarwickrama.

Her visit is a reciprocal trip coming after Samarwickrama's visit to India in July where several issues of economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

Sitharaman will also call on Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wicremsinghe.

TMC burn effigies of Tripura CM, Sharif, says both are anti-India

Agartala (Tripura) [India], Sept.26 : The Tripura Trinamool Congress burnt effigies of Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over the weekend, saying both were anti-Indian.

The TMC targeted Sarkar for his remark made at a business summit where he allegedly said India has a big brother approach to its neighours.

TMC activists organised a protest procession during which they raised anti-Manik Sarkar and anti-Pakistan slogans. The effigies were burnt at the busy Orient Choumuhani crossing on Sunday evening.

TMC youth leader Sushanta Choudhury called Chief Minister Sarkar a traitor and maintained that the CPI-M has never stood by India and that the former is echoing the sentiments of Pakistan.

Goa to host 21st India International Seafood Show in Feb 2018

New Delhi [India], Sept. 26 : After a successful 20th edition in Visakhapatnam, the India International Seafood Show (IISS) has announced its next edition to be held in Goa in February 2018.

According to Dr A Jayathilak, the chairman at Marine Products Export Development Agency (MPEDA), the coastal state of Goa, knowing for its scenic beauty, sandy beaches and thriving ports, would host the next edition (21st edition) of the event.

This announcement was made on the final day the three-day event, which was from September 23 to September 25.

The 20th edition of IISS, with 'Safe and Sustainable Indian Aquaculture' as the central theme, was a big success with a number of positives for all the stakeholders of the seafood industry in India and abroad.

Craig ruled out of remaining India Test series with side strain

Kanpur, (Uttar Pradesh), [India], Sept 26 : New Zealand off-spinner Mark Craig has been ruled out of the ongoing three- Test series against India with a side strain, head coach Mike Hesson has confirmed.

The 29-year-old sustained the injury to his left side while bowling in the second innings of the opening Test in Kanpur, although he will be available to bat.

Jeetan Patel, who last played for the Test side in 2013, has been summoned to the squad as Craig's replacement for the remaining two matches.

"We're really disappointed for Mark, knowing the work he's put in to prepare for this series. He started well with the ball in the first innings, before developing the side strain," Hesson was quoted as saying by blackcaps.co.nz.

Get set for 'Quantico' season 2 premiere tonight

New Delhi [India], Sept. 26 : The week starts with a huge excitement among the PeeCee fans as the second season of her American TV series 'Quantico' will premiere tonight in India.

Ahead of this big day, the 34-year-old actress attended a special 'outdoor screening' with the cast and crew in the United States and shared a glimpse of how they "roll."

PIL filed over Brahumdagh Bugti's asylum request to India

Allahabad [India], Sept. 26 : A PIL was filed on Monday over Baloch Republican Party (BRP) founder Brahumdagh Bugti's asylum request to India and the matter will be heard at the Allahabad court today.

The PIL was filed to the Lucknow bench of Allahabad Court.

This development comes after Bugti last week announced that he would appeal for a political asylum in India.

Bugti said that the decision was taken in his party's central committee meeting.

"The meeting of our central committee ended today. And in the meeting the members of the central committee have decided with majority that I will appeal for a political asylum in India," Bugti told ANI.

Bugti said that the he would seek an appointment with the Indian embassy in Geneva.
