Indian squad for England Test series to be announced today

New Delhi [India], Nov.2 : The national selection committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will meet in Mumbai today to pick the Indian team for the upcoming Test series against England commencing from November 9.

The England squad is scheduled to arrive in Mumbai tomorrow from Bangladesh after drawing a two-Test rubber against the hosts.

England would depart for Rajkot on November 5, where the first Test will be played. The other Tests will be held in Vishakapatnam (November 17-21), Mohali (November 26-30), Mumbai (December 8-12) and Chennai (December 16-20).

Ban Ki-moon sacks UN peacekeeping commander in South Sudan

New Delhi [India], Nov. 2 : UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon yesterday sacked the UN force commander in South Sudan following a report saying it had failed to protect civilians in July this year.

The claims made by aid workers that the UN troops refused to respond when government soldiers attacked an international aid compound in Juba was backed by the report.

A local journalist was killed and aid workers were reportedly raped in a fight between the army and former rebels. The clashes derailed efforts to form a unity government and end the civil war.

The fight began with clashes between President Salva Kiir's guards and bodyguards of sacked Vice-President Riek Machar.

Iraqi forces claim to enter IS-held Mosul

New Delhi [India], Nov. 2 : The Iraqi Army has claimed that its forces have entered the Islamic State (IS)-held Mosul for the first time since the terror outfit overran the city more than two years ago.

In a statement in Baghdad yesterday, the Joint Operations Command said the Iraqi forces have now entered the Judaidat Al-Mufti area within the left bank of the city of Mosul.

Judaidat al-Mufti is an area on the southeastern side of the city. Iraqi forces launched a massive operation aimed at retaking Mosul from the terrorist group more than two weeks ago, and have been advancing on the city on multiple fronts.

Allegations of Docomo handled without consulting Tata Sons "baseless": Mistry

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], Nov. 1 : Ousted Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry on Tuesday dismissed allegations that Docomo, its Japanese telecom partner, issue handled under his watch was "inconsistent with Tata culture and values."

"Insinuations that the Docomo issue was handled under the watch of Mistry in a manner inconsistent with Tata culture and values are baseless. The suggestion that Ratan Tata and the trustees would not have approved of the manner in which the litigation was conducted is contrary to what transpired," the official statement from Mistry's office stated.

He said that all decisions were taken with the unanimous approval of the Tata Sons Board, adding that they were collective decisions and the actions were in consistent with every such collective decision.
