Harsh, Sonam sweetly bonds at chat show

New Delhi [India], Oct. 4 : All of us have witnessed a well-bonded sister-brother banter at some point. Sonam Kapoor and Harshvardhan Kapoor relived one such moment at a recent chat show.

The chat show for Anupama Chopra's Film Companion shows the siblings open up about personal choices and decisions.

In the interview, the 'Khoobsurat' actress was seen asking her brother, "What is the one thing that you see me do, that you won't do?"

Harsh was quick to answer cheekily, "'Thank you' and 'Players'."

' Players' was a 2012 film directed by duo Abbas Mustan while ' Thank You' was a 2011 comedy film directed by Anees Bazmee.

Both the movies that featured Sonam Kapoor had bombed at the box office.

Your health is quite a lot dependent on your workplace

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct.4 : We spend almost one third of the day in our respective workplaces, so the people or the organization is very much associated with better health and lower burnout.

In a new meta-analysis covering 58 studies and more than 19,000 people across the globe, it is said that though many people assume that finding the right job that fits your personality and skills is the key to a healthy work life, health at work is determined to a large extent by our social relationships in the workplace and more particularly, the social groups we form there.

Previous studies on the relationships between people and their workplaces focus on issues of satisfaction, motivation, and performance in organizations, but much less on health and well-being.

Can meditation tame our emotions?

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct.4 : Meditation bring your emotions under your control even if you are an unmindful person, says a new study.

In the study from Michigan State University, the psychology researchers recorded the brain activity of people looking at disturbing pictures immediately after meditating for the first time.

These participants were able to tame their negative emotions just as well as participants who were naturally mindful.

"Our findings not only demonstrate that meditation improves emotional health, but that people can acquire these benefits regardless of their 'natural' ability to be mindful," said Yanli Lin, the lead investigator of the study. "It just takes some practice."

Find out how brain makes new memories, preserving the old

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct.4 : A new study shows how our brain makes new memories, without deleting the older ones.

Columbia scientists have developed a new mathematical model that helps to explain how the human brain's biological complexity allows it to lay down new memories without wiping out old ones, illustrating how the brain maintains the fidelity of memories for years, decades or even a lifetime.

This model could help neuroscientists design more targeted studies of memory, and also spur advances in neuromorphic hardware, powerful computing systems inspired by the human brain.

Ebb-n-flow of brain network may make one a better thinker!

Washington D.C. [USA], Oct.4 : It is a long-time known fact that different areas of the brain serve unique purposes. Only recently have it has been realized by the scientists that the organization isn't static. Rather, the level of coordination between different parts of the brain seems to be like ebb and flow.

Now, by analyzing the brains of a large number of people at rest or carrying out complex tasks, researchers at Stanford University have learned that the integration between those brain regions also fluctuates. When the brain is more integrated people do better on complex tasks.

"The brain is stunning in its complexity and I feel like, in a way, we've been able to describe some of its beauty in this story," said study lead author Mac Shine.
