The regulator has closed the shutters of four more banks in states of Georgia, Florida and Arizona. With this, the total number of lenders that have been closed down during this year has reached 41.

The trend of the closing down has not stopped or decreased because of the fact that the small lenders have been pressurized because of the falling liquidity and also bad loans which have been tied to commercial real estate.

If the latest news report is to be believed then Punj Lloyd, the engineering and construction giant, is looking forward to sell its stake in Pipavav Shipyard. It would be doing so to the co-founder of the shipping-related company, SKIL Infrastructure.

It would be selling as much as 19 per cent of its stake. This step has been taken since Punj Lloyd needs cash and the company is following the asset-sale method.
