Shy people who suffer social anxiety may aggressively act out as bullies as children, bosses or romantic partners, U. S. researchers have suggested.

People suffering from social anxiety are often characterized as shy, inhibitive and submissive, but a subset of the socially anxious act out, Psychologists Todd Kashdan and Patrick McKnight of George Mason University in Virginia have found.

They want two bills in the state Legislature that would stiffen the penalties of those who assault nurses, nurses in Massachusetts have said.

A news conference will be held by officials of the Massachusetts Nurses Association on Wednesday to support the bills HB1696/SB1753 and afterwards hundreds of nurses will lobby their legislators in the statehouse to have the bills approved.

The public should show understanding to the parent when a child acts out, a U. S. child-development expert has suggested.

Unless there is obvious abuse, Chuck Smith of Kansas State University advises onlookers not to intervene unless they are offering help to the parent.

Smith said in a statement, "Never assume you know what's going on. You have no idea how this child normally reacts and what this parent is going through."

The parent's struggle should be recognized, he recommends.

U. S. researchers have said that there has been an increase of injuries
due to weight training of nearly 50 percent during an 18-year study
period.

More than 970,000 weight-training-related injuries were
treated in U. S. hospital emergency departments between 1990 and 2007,
researchers at the Center for Injury Research and Policy of The Research
Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital in Columbus, Ohio have

It was announced on Tuesday by Honda Canada Inc. that it will reopen a second production shift in Alliston, Ontario, and add more than 400 jobs.
