Four more banks succumb to bankruptcyThe regulators have shut down four banks. This includes Advanta Bank Corp. along with three other lenders in Georgia.

With this the number of closed banks for this year has reached 37.

Advanta, which is owned by bankrupt credit-card issuer, Advanta was closed by the Utah regulator after the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. could not find a buyer for it. Now, FDIC has been named as the receiver.

Besides this, Appalachian Community Bank (ACB) of Georgia along with lenders in Minnesota, Alabama and Ohio were closed. As on the date of closing, ACB had $ 1 billion in assets.

The company expected the figures to be anywhere between $285 million and $310 million. On net front, the company encountered a loss of $22 million, or 13 cents a share. The report brought down the stock price almost by 13.5%, or 77 cents to $4.88 per share in after-hours trading.

BA promises to fly passengers even in midst of strike

The staff is on strike because they are demanding a rollback of the decision of pay cut. They are not happy with the kind of jobs that are provided to them and there is news that staff cutting will take place.
