BA promises to fly passengers even in midst of strike
British Airways (BA) has promised that it will arrange for flights for more than 60 per cent of its passengers during the weekend. This, it would do, even though the airline is facing a three-day strike of its cabin crew.
There have been delays in the flights and the working has been disrupted. And for the same, Chief Executive of BA, Willie Walsh has apologized officially.
The staff is on strike because they are demanding a rollback of the decision of pay cut. They are not happy with the kind of jobs that are provided to them and there is news that staff cutting will take place.
This has happened after the talks between the Union government and the management failed to reach an agreement.
While this has turned out to be a problem for the company, it is also a trouble for the government. This is the first time in 16 years that there has been a situation which could lead to a nation-wide strike.
As of now, the airline has 12,000 cabin crew members. The company, which is burdened with losses, wants a reduction so that it can save 62.5 million pounds.
