Alibaba shares could drop another 50%: Barron's

According to Barron’s, shares of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd that fell below their initial offering price after having climbed 75% in their first two months of trading are expected to lose another 50% of their value.

The reasons the weekly financial newspaper gave for the dour outlook: China's struggling economy, increasing competition in e-commerce and more scrutiny of the company's culture and governance.

According to Alibaba spokesman, Bob Christie, the article “contains factual inaccuracies and selective use of information, and the conclusions the reporter draws are misleading”. A letter has been posted by the company to Barron's editor in which it has complained about the story.

Bowie Resident may be down with West Nile Virus

Late Tuesday, the Maryland Division of Agriculture has informed the Bowie officers that a resident of Bowie might be suffering from West Nile virus. At this stage, it is not confirmed that the person is having the virus. It also not confirmed from where he has contracted the virus.

Jeannine Dorothy, an entomologist with the Maryland Division of Agriculture, said that they do not think that the person has contracted the problem from Bowie, as there mosquito spray is being done on regular basis.

Dorothy shared that the person lives with the Somerset neighborhood. On Tuesday, all streets within the area and different nearby areas of the streets will be sprayed. On August 19, the state health officials have reported Maryland’s first confirmed of West Nile virus.

Strong connection between psychosis and homophobia

A study published in the Journal of Sexual Medicine has found that there is a link between psychosis and homophobia. After investigating homophobia as possible mental illness, correlations to psychological dysfunctions were found.

Study researchers from Italy’s University of L’Aquila said, “After discussing for centuries if homosexuality is to be considered a disease, for the first time we demonstrated that the real disease to be cured is homophobia, associated with potentially severe psychopathologies”.

An experiment was carried out in which more than 520 students aged between 18 and 30 have taken part. They were given a series of evaluations and those who have received high scores for psychoticism also tended to be more homophobic.

A new study has found that tricycles send thousands of kids to emergency rooms every year and they are even responsible for some deaths as well. Most of the accidents take place when children are two years old.

The research published in the journal Pediatrics has found that the most common injury place due to tricycles is on head. Most of kids showing up at the emergency rooms had cuts and some had internal damage.

Study researchers said that most deaths take place when children on tricycles fell into swimming pools when they are riding it unsupervised. Therefore, it is very important for parents to keep a tab on their children if they have tricycles.

Four Defense Department labs face Investigation for alleged mishandling of Select Agents

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is conducting an investigation on four Defense Department labs in a matter of mishandling deadly germs that are used by federal government in their bioterrorism research.

The military studies germs like anthrax, plague and viruses. The research is carried out to know how to defend against the potential use of biological weapons. Currently, there is no report that anyone has been affected due to the mishandling.
