Seventeen killed as bus collides with train in Punjab

Moga (Punjab), Dec 14: At least 17 people were killed and several others injured when a mini bus collided with a passenger train at a railway crossing in Punjab's Moga District today.

According to police, the collision occurred at around 8:45 a. m. when a mini bus, carrying college students and teachers, rammed into the Ludhiana-Ferozepur Sutlej Express at Nuchur Chak village between Ajitwal and Jagraon station.

The accident took place at a manned gate which was closed as the train was passing, railway officials said.

According to reports, the accident may have happened due to fog.

Injured passengers are undergoing treatment at the near by hospitals. The toll is expected to go up, as many of the injured were in critical condition. (ANI)
