IIM-B placements dispel fears of gloomy job scenario
The fears of low placement period for management students in the coming months may prove wrong as the summer placements at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore, were encouraging. The placement session ended on Saturday.
A total of 24% of the batch of 268 students confirmed positions in consulting firms cutting across finance, strategy and marketing functions. The single largest consulting sector recruiter was McKinsey and Co, which took five students.
Prof. Saurav Mukherjee, Chairperson, Placements, at the Institute reported, “Finance companies that were expected to lie low have offered positions to 21 per cent of the students, investment banks 20 per cent, marketing firms 13 per cent, general management 13 per cent and others 5 per cent.”
“85 students had accepted international offers for summer placements, the highest number among all IIMs,” said the student media representatives.
Prof. Saurav Mukherjee added, “More than 110 companies visited the campus this year for the summer placements. Last year, about 65 companies came calling for summer internships at IIM-B. Times have been tough for finance companies, that’s why we planned to get a larger number of companies to make offers this year.”
