Though the hearing of his appeal against the one-Test ban is pending, cricketer Gautam Gambhir may still get a chance to play the fourth and final Test against Australia, in Nagpur.

The Test starts from November 6, and if a decision does not arrive by then, Gambhir would be eligible to play in the final match. This news came after the International Cricket Council said that Gambhir could continue playing under Code of Conduct regulations.

India's opening batsman, Gambhir, pleaded guilty to the charge levied against him for elbowing Australian bowler, Shane Watson, while attempting a run on the first day of the third Test at the Ferozeshah Kotla ground.

As a result, he was handed a one-Test ban by match referee Chris Broad. In case, the left-handed batsman fails to overturn the umpire's verdict, the cost of the appeal will have to be borne by him.

In a statement, the ICC said that its Legal Counsel will appoint a Code of Conduct Commissioner within two days, and that the appeal will be heard within seven days of the Commissioner's appointment.
