Satyam’s Raju Is E&Y Entrepreneur Of The Year 2007
New Delhi: B. Ramalinga Raju, chairman & founder of Satyam Computer Services Ltd has been awarded as the “Entrepreneur of the Year (2007)” by the audit and consultancy firm, Ernst & Young.
The firm has also selected nine other entrepreneurs for awards across different groups.
Rajiv Memani, country managing partner of Ernst & Young, said, “The winners are outstanding individuals who have not only built best-in-class businesses, which are making their mark on the global platform, but have also taken innovative steps to positively impact the society and wider community.”
The panel of judges, chaired by ICICI Bank chief K.V. Kamath, presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Keshub Mahindra of M&M’s Group.
To accredit assistance to the imperative economy segments, the judges also decided to consider two new categories including ‘social entrepreneurship’ and ‘infrastructure and construction.’
The founder and general secretary of Self-Employed Women’s Association, Ela Ramesh Bhatt was chosen for the Social Entrepreneurship Award, whereas chairman and managing director (CMD) of Punj Lloyd Ltd, Atul Punj, was selected for the Infrastructure & Construction Award.
Other who has been awarded under different categories include Sajjan Jindal CMD JSW Steel Ltd, for his position in the manufacturing business; Shiv Nadar of HCL Enterprises Ltd, in the services category; and Cyrus Poonawalla of Serum Institute of India Ltd for health care and life sciences.
Raghav Bahl of Network18 was nominated as business transformation entrepreneur, Shikha Sharma of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance the manager entrepreneur; and Manoj Kumar Upadhyay of Acme Tele Power as the start-up entrepreneur of the year.
