Islamabad HC disposes of plea seeking Musharraf’s name on exit control list
Islamabad, Aug 23 : The Islamabad High Court has disposed of a writ petition seeking placement the names of former Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf and several other people on the Exit Control List (ECL) for their alleged involvement in the Lal Masjid operation.
High Court Chief Justice Sardar Muhammad Aslam pointed out that almost all the issues raised in the petition had already been decided by the Supreme Court through a suo motu notice, reported the Daily Times.
Khawaja Azhar, counsel for the petitioner Khalid Khawaja, contended that the respondents could flee the country any time. But, the Chief Justice observed that since there was no case registered against the respondents, their names could not be placed on the ECL.
The counsel maintained that an attempt had been made to get an FIR registered with the Aabpara police, but the SHO had refused and the district and sessions judge, Islamabad also refused to hear the case.
The CJ observed that the district and sessions judge, Islamabad had declined to hear the matter as it was pending with the SC. (ANI)
