Zardari acting like a slave to Musharraf, says Imran

Lahore, June 13 : Pakistan’s cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan has warned PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari against being hands-in-glove with President Pervez Musharraf as, he said, it might boomerang on him with people turning against him.

Addressing a gathering of agitated lawyers at the Lahore High Court, Khan reportedly warned Zardari against becoming a shield for Musharraf. He cautioned him that if he did not cease his present acts, then today’s ‘Go Musharraf Go’ slogans might change into ‘Go Zardari Go’ slogans tomorrow, reported The News.

Khan also expressed sorrow that Zardari was acting as slave to Musharraf the way Musharraf had acted one to George Bush, added the paper.

According to the paper, in his peculiar emphatic style, Imran warned the nation that democracy was betraying the judiciary for the sake of controversial (National Reconciliation Ordinance) NRO.

Imran Khan said that the lawyers movement was a historic and epic movement, which would turn the country into a new Pakistan, which would be free from injustice and cruelty.

He cautioned the nation that increasing the strength of Supreme Court judges from 16 to 29 was part of a conspiracy and if PCO judges were retained in the Supreme Court, it would destroy the whole institution of Judiciary.

Imran asked PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif that after becoming an MNA, he must move the resolution for restoration of judiciary at the earliest to test the sincerity of the parliament with this cause. “It will expose the very sincerity and intentions of the PPP-led government with this issue,” he said.

Only last Sunday, Imran and Nawaz had met in London to decide to support the lawyers’ long march. (ANI)
