Centre all set to launch National Solar Mission
New Delhi, Nov 14 : The Union Government is all set to launch the ambitious National Solar Mission implementation plan.
The plan which was announced by Prime Minster Manmohan Singh in his Independence Day address is scheduled to be launched on Saturday.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s office here on Saturday said, the mission will be launched as soon as government approval for recommendations is obtained.
"Now, the recommendations of the mission have been finalized and an implementation plan has been formulated after a series of consultations both within government as well as other stakeholders outside the government," the PMO stated.
The National Solar Mission document which sets a target of 20,000 MW for solar power by 2020 was in principle approved by Prime Minister''s Council of Climate Change in its meeting on October 26.
Besides the solar mission, the council has approved the Mission on Himalayan Ecosystems and Energy Efficient Missions out of the eight missions under the National Action Plan on Climate Change. (ANI)
