Travel Tips for those planning to go to hill stations in North India
Hi Everyone,
I found this website 3 days ago and find it as a nice place for young people. I am not much into stock markets, but just started investing in some mutual funds and some small companies. As the stock markets have touched their all time high today, the mood is really strong. Even i am making a profits of nearly 50 thousand on my investments.
Anyways, lets come to the actual topic. I went to spend time with my family this weekend in Dalhousie. The place is really cool and very quiet compared to other stations in north India. But we made a few mistakes which you guys should avoid.
First, i did not make a reservation for a room, which i guess is needed these days. I have been to many hill stations in past few years, but i guess this time, there is a shortage of rooms at most hill stations. Either, we went in peak season, or the problem was with the increase in population of India. I even think that spending power of Indian Consumer has increased and this might have resulted in more people going in for leisure travel. Anyways, whatever may be the reasons, i will suggest everyone to make a prior reservation for room. We were roaming for more than 2 hours in search of a room. And in the end got it at a higher price.
I will suggest you to make an online reservation if you can. There are many travel websites which are for Indian travel only and they can help you in many ways. Even, many of them have packages which are really nice and affordable.
Another suggestion is to take clothing after checking the temprature on the respective hill station on some weather websites. Yahoo provides a cool tool for checking the forecast as well, or you can even ask your travel agent.
Do not forget to take some nice food if you are traveling by car. It is always better to have some bread, butter and cheese which you can eat on your way, instead of stopping at some joints in the hills. Even you can take some juice or other drinks. I do not like the food served at small shops along side the hills, so prefer to carry something from our home. In hotels, of course, one can always find nice food, but i do not put much trust in some roadside shops.
I hope you all will like my small suggestions. They are simple things, but they can add more fun to your travel plans.
Please do add your tips as it is always better to share some information.
