Sushmita Sen’s much hyped directorial debut ‘Jhansi ki Rani’, which was to be a whopping 130 crore dream project of former Miss Universe, has now been shelved.

A source from the industry said that the reason behind the delay was a TV serial based on the same subject came in the ways of Sush’s dream project. The serial will be on air shortly.

The source also informed that everything for the movie including the playscript, sites, horses and funds had been settled before Miss Sen came to know that a TV channel has caught the idea and has already started working on it.

“The investors obviously weren’t too happy about this as the serial would be on air before the film’s release. They then backtracked and the project is now shelved. The hired staff has been asked to leave too,” the source said.

In the meantime, a representative from the channel that’s due to make the TV serial on the same theme said, “Yes, the serial is being planned and will go on floor this March.”

All this compelled Sush to put the project on hold till new investors come into picture.
