Latest Bollywood flick and India’s first made-in-China film, Chandni Chowk to China, has got another reason to be back in the news. The film, this time, has angered the people of Nepal for its false and deceptive references over the birth place of Lord Buddha.

While speaking on this, Nepalese Information and Communication Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara said, “Nepal's Council of Ministers headed by Prime Minister Prachanda decided to direct the Foreign Ministry to take up the issue with the agencies concerned in India.”

The furious Nepalese students staged a protest in front of Kathmandu's popular Jai Cinema hall. As a result, Maoist-led Nepal government has decided to ban the Indian film.

The ruckus is over a false remark in the film about the birthplace of the Buddha which says that the Buddha was born in India while the Buddha's actual birthplace is Lumbini in southern Nepal. Lumbini is considered as a holy pilgrim mark which draws thousands of visitors from all over the globe every year.

Meanwhile, CC2C producer, Rohan Sippy has apologized for hurting sentiments of the people in the Himalayan state.

In his statement, Sippy said, "It is mentioned in one scene of `Chandni Chowk to China' that Buddha was born in India, a statement that has been deemed false in Nepal. It was never our intention to hurt the sentiments of the people of Nepal or anyone else for that matter. We would like to unconditionally apologise for any offence caused due to the error.''
