Seventh Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) will start on 8 January

Seventh Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) will start on 8 JanuaryThe seventh Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) will start from 8 January. Around 150 films from 42 countries will be screened during the festival. Minister of State for External Affairs and Information and Broadcasting Anand Sharma will inaugurate the eight-day festival. During inauguration, Veteran actors Shashi Kapoor, Hema Malini and Sulochana will be given with the Lifetime Achievement Awards.

Films will be screen under categories like World Cinema, Student Films- Live Action and Animation, World Showcase, Country Focus, Retrospective, Tribute, Indian Showcase, Focus on Director, Gems from NFAI and Marathi Cinema Today.

Competition section of the fest will include World Cinema, Marathi Cinema and Student Films. Government of Maharashtra Prabhat Award for the best international film and best international director carries cash prizes of Rs 10 lakhs and Rs 5 lakhs. Government of Maharashtra Sant Tukaram best International Marathi film award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakhs. PIFF best international actors
(male & female) will be given Rs 5 lakhs each.
