Cholamandalam MS signs pact with TCS, CMC
Cholamandalam MS General Insurance Co Ltd. (Chola MS) has entered with Tata Consultancy Service (TCS) and CMC Ltd, to revamp its IT infrastructure, an official release said.
The company said, “The new software system will ensure improved service delivery processes for customers across branches in India.”
While the software is a proprietary general insurance system of CMC, TCS will manage the customization and successful deployment over the web. The contract will be of five-year duration including the annual maintenance contract, it added.
The Benefits to customers would include delivery of policies at remote locations, facilitation of alternate modes of payment and speedy interaction for issuance of policies and settlement of claims.
The deployment is in-line with the company's expanding business and the changing requirements of a free market in the insurance de-tariff regime.
S S Gopalarathnam, President (operations) of Chola MS said, “In the changing market scenario, the need to minimize time to market is the biggest driving force behind the project. The software will help to speed up customer interaction, minimize waiting period for any transaction and thereby help us service our customers better.”
The Chola MS, is a Joint Venture between the $2.0 billion Murugappa Group and Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group of Japan. The firm offers a wide range of comprehensive product solutions spanning almost all non-life Insurance offerings ranging from Motor Insurance, Health, Home, Travel, to Accident, Property, Marine and Engineering.
In the first phase, the software will be deployed at 100 Cholamandalam MS offices across the country in April 2008.
