Yeddyurappa planning defamation case against Deve Gowda
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said that he is thinking of filing a defamation case against the former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda over the allegations made against him in the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise (NICE) case. Yeddyurappa's legal advisers have opined that it is a fit case for defamation.
Gowda had alleged that Yeddyurappa favoured the Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise who was the promoter of the Bangalore Mysore Expressway.
Earlier, the State Government appointed the former Karnataka High Court Additional Judge, Ravi B Naik, as the Special Public Prosecutor, to file a defamation suit against the former Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, alleging bribery against Yeddyurappa. The Chief Minister said that his government was not involved in any unauthorised mining and the licenses were issued during the Congress JDS rule.
Indicating that his government was willing to provide extra police personnel for the investigations he said, "I have requested the Lokayukta to incorporate investigations of both the coalition governments and also to include the present government's tenure in the investigations."
He said that the opposition is blaming the government in order to 'divert' the people's attention in the face of the forthcoming bypolls, which they are afraid to loose.
