NIO ET9 flagship boasts cutting-edge features
Chinese automakers continue to push the boundaries of electric vehicle innovation, and NIO’s latest offering, the ET9 flagship, having emerged as a testament to their prowess. Unveiled at the recently-held Nio Day 2023 event, the ET9 claims to be an electric technological marvel that redefines luxury. To be available in China with a starting price tag of $113,500, the Nio ET9 flagship model boasts industry-leading specifications and a host of leading-edge features. At the heart of the new EV are in-house developed 46105 large cylindrical cells, with a 900-volt electrical architecture enabling 600 kW fast charging. The "SkyRide" intelligent chassis system allows steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering, enhancing the EV’s agility and control. The second-generation Aquila 2.0 super sensing system of the vehicle integrates three LiDARs, while the brand’s NX9031 5nm ADAS-dedicated chip and the SkyOS OS further contribute to the vehicle’s intelligent capabilities.
When it comes to design, the new EV adopts Nio's Landjet styling language, presenting a high-riding fastback sedan-crossover hybrid with a distinctive presence. In spite of its massive dimensions, including 23-inch wheels, the EV offers a surprisingly intimate cabin with four individual seats. The rear seats, which have been separated by the "Executive Bridge," provide first-rate comfort with an array of adjustments, a mini-fridge, and electric sunshades. The "Sky Island" panoramic glass roof further adds to the vehicle’s luxurious ambiance.
The ET9’s cabin showcases a tech-infused environment with a total of four displays, including a massive 15.6-inch central unit. For the rear passengers, there are two 14.6-inch screens, while an 8-inch screen on the rear center console completes the digital ensemble. The user interface (UI) is powered by the Adam 2.0 super computing platform, which offers features across intelligent driving, digital cockpit, body, chassis, e-powertrain, and cloud. The SkyOS operating system helps the driver in controlling various vehicle functions and connectivity features.
Underneath its sleek exterior, the Nio ET9 houses a 120-kWh battery pack with 46105 large cylindrical cells, supporting 5C charging. The impressive 900V electrical architecture enables a charging peak power of 600 kW, adding 158 miles of range in merely 5 minutes. The dual electric motors (e-motors) deliver a formidable 697 hp, with a front induction and rear permanent magnet motors generating 241 and 456 hp, respectively. The innovative SkyRide Intelligent Chassis System, a fully driven-by-wire setup, further enhances the driving experience.
While the Nio ET9 is already available for preorder in China, deliveries are slated to commence in the first quarter of 2025.
