Maruti register 22.4% growth in domestic sales

Country's largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has recorded a 22.4 per cent growth in domestic sales in April 2008 at 59,539 units as compared to 48,652 units in the same month last year.

The A2 segment, which includes the Alto, Wagon-R and Swift, accounted for the company's highest sales.

While, the A3 segment, comprising SX4 and Dzire sold a total of 4,187 units, as against 2,124 units in the same month last year, registering a decent growth in that segment.

Sales of the Maruti-800 fell 29.5 per cent in April 2008 compared with April 2007, while sales of multi utility vehicles such as the Gypsy and the Grand Vitara fell 67.3 per cent.

The company's exports grew 64.5 per cent during the month compared with the year-ago period.
