Mahindra’s increasing focus on US

Mahindra-TractorThe tractor-maker has been able to retain its market leadership position in the UV segment for years now but the company is now upping the ante by moving into markets like US to generate future growth.

The company is also looking at as much as 20% contribution from the global sales worldwide of the total business by the year 2012.

Notably, the current contribution that Mahindra gets from the overseas market is as low as 5% as per the sales figures reported for 2008-09 and the company expects a7% contribution for the last fiscal. Pravin Shah, Chief Executive, International Operations is very much confident of registering a three-fold jump in the benchmarks that it set two years ago in the Indian automotive industry.

Moreover, Shah is confident of the fact that the company will achieve this landmark very easily in the short-run. The company will be entering the US market this year and it is expected to take the Mahindra brand on a new level in the overseas market with its much-popular Pick-ups and SUVs. The company also wants to enter markets like New Zealand and Taipei in the coming 12-18 months.
