Lt Col arrested for Malegaon blast

A serving army officer Lieutenant Colonel Srikant Purohit was arrested by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in connection with the September 29 Malegaon blast.

He was arrested late on Tuesday in Mumbai where the ATS has been interrogating him for past two days.

The ATS has refused to reveal details about Purohit's ole in he blast.

Purihit's name came up in the investigation following the arrest of two retired Indian army officers for their role in the Malegaon blasts.

The army officer was remanded to police custody for 10 days by the order of a Nashik Court. ATS was also allowed to conduct polygraph, brain-mapping and narco analysis of Purohit.

The Malegaon blast on 9 September 29 had claimed 6 lives.
