Long Height Boosts Cancer Chances, Claims Study

Long Height Boosts Cancer Chances, Claims StudyA new research done by the Oxford University researchers claimed that with the increase in height, the chances of developing several cancers were also got amplified.

The study tracked a million British women who had 10cm increase in height and accounted that, their cancer chances were increased by 16%. The study also stated that the boost in the risk was linked to the body hormones intensity.

Jane Green, Lead Author of the study commented that beside all these figures, they can’t deny the fact that people cannot alter their tallness and it was unfortunate that their tall height problems also increased the heart disease risks.

He added, "The link between height and cancer risk seems to be common to many different types of cancer and in different people, suggesting that there may be a basic common mechanism, perhaps acting early in people's lives, when they are growing".

On the other hand, previous studies have revealed associations between height and cancer, but this latest research examined the fact that, if the taller people had a greater chance of developing specific cancers.

Prof. Klinken agreed with the researchers' suggestion and quoted that bigger people have more cells as a result of which, whenever there is any cell division, more replications occurred.
