July ‘make or break’ talks may seal fate of Pakistan’s ruling coalition
Islamabad, June 27: PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif will meet in the second week of July for a ‘make or break’ round of talks.
Zardari, who is on a foreign tour, will return in the first week of July. He will hold ‘decisive’ talks with Sharif on the thorny issue of the restoration of the deposed judges.
Sources said that the PML-N has already indicated to the PPP that it should decide within the month of July whether it wants to keep the coalition intact, The News reported.
Leaders of both parties are busy holding informal meetings to prepare ground for the final round of talks between the two leaders.
Sources said during these meetings, the PML-N leaders told the PPP that they had shown maximum flexibility since the formation of the alliance and now it was time for the PPP to show flexibility on the restoration of the deposed judges if it wanted to keep the coalition intact.
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will also meet Sharif in the next few days to discuss the judges issue.
Some senior PPP leaders hope that the judges’ issue would be resolved in the next round of talks between the two leaders. However, others are not so optimistic about the outcome of the talks. (ANI)
