Jordan condemns Jewish settlers' "aggression" in Hebron
Amman - The Jordanian government Saturday condemned what it called a series of "aggressions" on Palestinian civilians by Jewish settlers in the West Bank city of Hebron, and urged the Israeli authorities to stop such "provocative" acts.
"The Jordanian government strongly denounces the aggressions which were carried out by settlers on Palestinian civilians and believe such attacks will have dangerous repercussions on the peace process," Foreign Minister Salah Bashir said in a statement carried by the official Petra news agency.
Palestinian sources said settlers opened fire Friday, seriously injuring a Palestinian father and his son after Israeli troops forced ultranationalist Jews to evacuate a four-storey disputed building in Hebron.
Clashes were also reported between Palestinians and armed settlers who set fire to several Palestinian houses in the city and the neighbourhoods.
