Irish ESB to buy NIE
NIE heading the broadcasting and distribution business of Viridian, Northern Ireland's main power group has entered into a provisional concord, which is expected to be concluded by 2010 and has been accomplished for ESB to obtain NIE's networks business, from Viridian. The procurement entails NIE's electrical construction and maintenance services.
Arlene Foster the Energy Minister expressed that she had already conversed about the deal with the watchdogs and the Irish Minister Eamon Ryan.
She further added that she has got the word from ESB on an array of concerns related to the transaction. This might entail ESB investment plans, the significance of sheltering the existing jobs, and to sustain the individuality of the electricity network business in Northern Ireland.
Adding more to the comments she expressed that she shall carry on to keep a close eye as the transaction earnings in favor of completion, to make sure the interests of electricity consumers in Northern Ireland which are being properly measured.
