Indian shares fall as US bailout package stalls

New Delhi - Uncertainty over the US 700-billion-dollar bailout plan pulled down Indian shares Friday with the two main stock market indices showing a drop of more than 2 per cent.

The 50-share Nifty of the National Stock Exchange hovered around 4,026 points in the afternoon session, about 2.07 per cent below Thursday's close.

The 30-share sensitive index of the Bombay Stock Exchange dipped by 2.01 per cent to 13,274 points.

Heaviest selling was seen in realty, metal, banking, capital goods, power and oil stocks. (dpa)
