The biggest names in the food and beverages industry came together on Sunday night to attend the most exciting food and beverage awards in the Capital.

The HT City Crystal Awards 2009 — that have had Delhi buzzing ever since the 111 nominees for the “people’s choice” food and beverage awards were announced — came to a glitzy end on Sunday, as top chefs, restaurateurs, and noted names from various fields converged at ITC Maurya to attend the awards function.

The People’s Choice awards — conferred on 15 restaurants — were decided on the basis of over a lakh votes, gathered via e-mail, SMS, and on-ground voting. Delhiites also used social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter to garner support for their favourite restaurants.

The awards were presented by a host of celebrities. Noted food critic and HT’s advisory editorial director Vir Sanghvi also presented his choice of restaurants with the Vir Sanghvi Awards.

The night was also high on the celeb quotient, with people like FDCI President Sunil Sethi, boxing champion Vijender Singh, chess champion Tania Sachdev, fashion designers Rohit Bal and Ritu Beri and musicians Ayaan and Amaan Ali Khan attending the event.
