Hewlett-Packard India is ready to enter the retail photo printing market with a launch of online photo printing service. The company will target digital photography sector with HP Retail Photo Solutions (RPS).

The company plans to offer services to mobile phone and digital camera users via HP Snapfish website. The sales of digital cameras and mobile phones has picked up in past couple of years. HP has recently launched cost effective printing and scanning equipment with great features.

Mr. V. Krishnan, General Manager Consumer Sales for HP India is confident that the new service will offer great features to users and also will be easy for everyone. Mobile users and Digital Camera users will have better quality imaging solutions at affordable prices. The company plans to open nearly 3000 retail photo outlets across India by year 2010.

The services will be provided by Snapfish. Snapfish website will also offer free unlimited photo storage space and photo sharing. Photo sharing has been very popular among internet users in past two years. The price for digital prints in small size will be as low at Rs 2.95. The current price for the same size varies from Rs 5 – 8 across various photo studios in India.

As per reports of Gartner, Indian photo printing market was worth $ 110 million in year 2006. The research agency expects the market to grow at 20 – 22 percent per year.

HP Retail outlets and Snapfish website will accept orders for printing. Consumers will have option to print high quality photos on t-shirts, mouse pads, greeting cards and posters as well. The HP digital photo solutions will offer high quality print with better life-span compared to traditional photo prints.
