Google marks Children’s day with a colorful DoodleInternet giant, Google is marking children’s day with a new colorful doodle on its home page made of several musical instruments.

The doodle is created by Varsha Gupta, who is a student of the third class at Ryan International School in Greater Noida and can be seen by viewers of the Google’s flagship search engine home page. Gupta had recently won the Doodle 4 Google competition organized by the company.

Google had earlier announced that it will put up the winning doodle on its Indian home page on November 14 to mark the day.

"India is a land of different cultures. In India Music plays a very important role. India has given many musical instruments to the world. Example: Tabla, Sarod, Veena, Shehnai etc,” explained Gupta about the doodle.

She also said that music instruments are part of the India culture and are played on all occasions including war. She also named Zakir Hussain as well as Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma as modern day musicians from the country as inspiration for the doodle.

The theme of the Doodle 4 Google competition was India's gift to the world and the winner was offered a laptop, Internet connection for a year and a technology grant of Rs 2,00,000 towards the winning student’s school. The winning doodle was selected form among 1,55,000 entries.

The birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru is celebrated as Children's Day in the country.
