German Chancellor Merkel meets Polish Prime Minister Tusk in Gdansk
Berlin - German Chancellor Angela Merkel travels to Poland later this month for a meeting with Prime Minister Donald Tusk in his home town, the historic Baltic city of Gdansk.
The two leaders would hold talks on a range of bilateral and international issues on June 16, Merkel's spokesman said Friday.
The talks are also to focus on preparing for the European Council in Brussels on June 19 and 20 marking the end of the Slovenian presidency of the European Union.
During the one-day visit, the two leaders will walk through Gdansk's Old City, which was badly damaged in World War II and subsequently reconstructed.
German-Polish relations have taken a turn for the better since Tusk succeeded Jaroslaw Kaczynski in November last year. (dpa)
