Britain has extended a helping hand towards India in fighting terrorism. British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said on Thursday that Britain is sending police experts to India to help investigators probe the Mumbai attacks.

"We're sending police emergency teams that are well versed in dealing with terrorism," he said, adding that he was "shocked and outraged" by the attacks. Brown strongly condemned the Mumbai attacks. He sent messages to the Indian Prime Minister saying that the "outrageous attacks" will be met with a "vigorous response."

BJP candidate from Prithvipur assembly segment Of Madhya Pradesh and two-term MLA, Sunil Naik was shot dead allegedly by the brother of Congress candidate contesting from the same constituency.

Naik was shot in the neck by Congress MLA Brijendra Singh Rathore's brother Yashpal Singh Rathore in the Naya Khera area of the constituency.

According to the health authorities, a fresh outbreak of bird flu was discovered in Hajo block of Kamrup district in Assam. Since last Saturday, over 200 birds have died in the area.  

The state authorities have ordered culling thousands of chicken and ducks.

R. C. Jain, a senior state government official said, “We were informed that the samples sent to laboratories in Bhopal and Pune have been tested positive. So we have ordered for culling in the area, which will start today.”

"It is H5N1 stain," added the official.

A total of 863 candidates are in fray for Delhi polls, which will be held for 69 seats of the 70-member Assembly.

Polling to the Rajinder Nagar seat has been postponed to 13th December following the death of BJP candidate and sitting legislator Puran Chand Yogi.

The campaigning for the polls ended on Thursday. Delhi is witnessing a keenly fought electoral tussle between Congress and BJP where Mayawati-led BSP is likely to play a spoilsport.

BJP has projected senior party leader Bijoy Malhotra as its Chief Ministerial candidate.

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday stayed the release of the film Sorry Bhai! till December 8 after singer Rabbi Shergill filed a petition alleging that one of the songs in the film was quite similar to a song in his album released in July this year.

High Court Justice Rajeev Sahay Eudlan has asked the producers of the film to either remove the song or go for a stay.

The film, starring Sanjay Suri, Sharman Joshi and Chitrangada Singh was scheduled to be released on November 28.

The music of the film was released last month.

Hindi film industry is in deep shock following terror attacks in Mumbai.

Amitabh Bachchan, known for his on-screen ‘Angry Young Man’ image depicting the rebellious youth, expressed anger through his blog.

On his blog, the shahenshah of Bollywood wrote, “Last night, as the events of the terror attack unfolded in front of me I did something for the first time and one that I had hoped never ever to be in a situation to do.”
